YAYASAN BANDUNG PHILHARMONIC
Bandung Philharmonic is the first professional symphony orchestra in Bandung, founded in 2015 by Airin Efferin, Fauzie Wiriadisastra, Ronny Gunawan, and Putu Sandra Kusuma. From its inception, the orchestra has received artistic guidance from Robert Nordling, Music Director of the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra and the Baroque on Beaver Island Festival and Michael Hall, violist and faculty member at the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago.

Our Story
Since its founding, Bandung Philharmonic has premiered over 20 works by both Indonesian and international composers, enriching the country’s classical music landscape. Through its non-profit foundation, the orchestra also runs various educational and cultural initiatives such as the TUNAS Program, the Young Indonesian Composers Competition, and other community-based projects that nurture future generations of musicians and audiences alike.
Born from a vision to establish a professional symphony orchestra in Bandung, akin to those in New York, Los Angeles, and Singapore, Bandung Philharmonic is dedicated to bringing orchestral music closer to the public. The orchestra held its debut concert in January 2016 at Padepokan Seni Mayang Sunda, featuring musicians from across Indonesia selected through blind auditions.
In addition to its symphony concerts, Bandung Philharmonic regularly presents Children’s Concerts, Chamber Music Concerts, and various educational programs designed to bridge the world of orchestral music with the broader community.
